Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, optional phone number, account role, profile identifiers, authentication records, and support communications.
- Verification information: optional tenancy or residence proof, ownership records, and dispute documents you choose to submit. Reviews do not require a document. Optional address proof may be a lease, utility bill, renter's-insurance statement, or official mail. You may redact account numbers, balances, barcodes, and other sensitive information. Uploaded documents are private, used only for verification and moderation, and never displayed publicly.
- User content: reviews, ratings, questions, answers, responses, votes, reports, messages, and moderation or dispute submissions.
- Property activity: addresses and locations you search, save, track, review, or purchase reports for, plus related public-record and property-intelligence results.
- Payments: purchase, subscription, receipt, refund, and billing identifiers. Stripe processes card details; RentTruth does not store full card numbers.
- Device and service data: push-notification tokens, language and theme settings, app diagnostics, IP-derived service data, and security records.
How We Use Information
- Provide accounts, authentication, property search, reviews, Q&A, reports, saved or tracked properties, messaging, and notifications.
- Verify submissions and property relationships, moderate content, investigate reports or disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce blocks.
- Process purchases and subscriptions, provide receipts and refunds, and meet accounting, tax, and dispute obligations.
- Maintain security, reliability, customer support, and legal compliance.
Privacy-Minimized Product Activity
RentTruth records limited product activity, such as opening a feature, viewing a property, completing a workflow, or opening an official announcement. We use this information to understand feature reliability and improve the service. Activity records may include an internal account or property identifier, platform, app version, coarse city and state, result type, and workflow status. They do not include message contents, review drafts, raw search text, payment-card data, passwords, tokens, keystrokes, contact lists, or precise-location history.
- Product activity records are deleted after 90 days.
- Analytics are aggregate by default. Administrative and elevated user-level access is server-authorized and recorded in an audit trail.
- RentTruth does not use this activity for advertising, cross-app tracking, or sale of personal information.
Announcements and Notification Choices
RentTruth may place official product, safety, or account announcements in the app. Push notifications are sent only when allowed by your applicable in-app preference, device permission, valid device token, and server delivery controls. Announcements do not enable advertising tracking. You can change notification choices in the app.
Public Content, Public Records, and Blocking
Approved reviews and Q&A may be visible to other people with a privacy-preserving public identity. Reviews without approved address proof are labeled Community Review; a moderator-approved residency document may add an Address Verified badge. Verification documents are never public. Do not include personal or sensitive information in public content. Property intelligence may combine user submissions with official public records and licensed data. Coverage and source freshness vary by jurisdiction. Blocking hides reviews, Q&A, messages, notifications, and interactions between signed-in users in both directions where applicable. RentTruth does not tell a blocked person who blocked them.
Service Providers and Data Sharing
RentTruth uses service providers only as needed to operate the service, including Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and Edge Functions; Stripe for payment and subscription processing; Expo and platform providers for push notifications and app delivery; and map, geocoding, property-data, public-record, email, and moderation providers used by the feature you request. We may also disclose information to comply with law, protect users or the service, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information for money.
Location and Address Information
RentTruth processes addresses, map coordinates, and location-based searches to identify properties, display nearby context, match public records, and provide requested reports. Device location is used only when you grant platform permission. Property addresses and official public records may be publicly available even when they are associated with your activity privately in RentTruth.
Retention and Account Deletion
We retain information while needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, protect security, and meet legal obligations. Verification documents, device tokens, saved or tracked properties, notifications, messages, reviews, questions, answers, votes, and other user content are deleted or anonymized after a valid in-app account-deletion request. Access ends immediately and completion may take up to 30 days. Product activity records are retained for no more than 90 days. Limited payment, fraud, tax, or dispute records may be retained with user identifiers removed where feasible. Delete Your Account.
Security and Your Choices
We use access controls, row-level security, private storage, and limited service credentials, but no system is completely secure. You can edit profile information, manage notification preferences, block or unblock people, remove eligible content, and delete your account in the app. Platform settings control device permissions and push notifications.
Children, Changes, and Contact
RentTruth is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the service changes and will post the revised date here. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through the contact page or to info@renttruth.app.
